AIMA MAT on Dec 4; Test pattern, participating B-schools & do's & don'ts
The MBA entrance exam which is scheduled next week is MAT December 2011. MAT or the Management Aptitude Test is held in both paper pencil as well as computer based test. The paper pencil based test will be held on this Sunday, December 4, 2011. The computer based test will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2011 onwards.
Now that there are just five days left for the exam, MBAUniverse.com brings to you a recap of the exam pattern and the information related to the exam which you must know before taking the test.
The pattern of MAT exam is pretty stable. The exam pattern doesn’t undergo random changes, which is a boon for you as you can be well prepared to take the exam.
There are 200 questions in the MAT exam. The number of sections is five. The duration of the exam is 150 minutes, which is 2.5 hours. Each question has one mark. There is a negative marking scheme of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. The overall difficulty level of the exam ranges from easy to moderate.
The sections of the MAT exam are Language Comprehension, Mathematical Skills, Data Analysis & Sufficiency, Intelligence and Critical Reasoning and Indian and Global Environment. Each section has 40 questions.
The consolidated score is calculated on the basis of four sections only, which are Language Comprehension, Mathematical Skills, Data Analysis & Sufficiency and Intelligence and Critical Reasoning. Indian and Global Environment is not the part of the consolidated score. Hence, the scoring is done out of a maximum possible score of 160 marks. However, the score card by AIMA does not give the net marks. It gives the scaled score and the percentile in each and every section. It also gives the overall composite score (out of 800) and the overall percentile.
The scores of MAT December 2011 will be accepted by 378 B-schools across India for the academic year 2012-14. You will have to apply to these institutes separately.
The exam will be held in 69 cities where 67 centers are in India and two centers are abroad. The two international centers are Dubai and Singapore. But not all centers in India are hosting the exam in the computer based format. The cities which offer the test in both paper pencil and computer based formats are Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Cochin, Bhopal, Mumbai, Jaipur, Chennai, Lucknow, Noida and Kolkata.
